Lesson Learned

I love to tinker and experiment. At the moment I am tinkering with my cpanel, learning the ropes of webhosting, and my wordpress blogs. Just a few hours ago I was feeling happy because finally I saw a theme I liked and it was easy to use too. Unfortunately, a few hours later I let out a cry of agony. I accidentally deleted my wp-config.php file. It started with seeing a php code I could add in my wp-config.php. Eager to try it, I opened my ftp account, downloaded the file, added the line, then uploaded it again to my account. Unfortunately there was something wrong with the line, and I couldn’t open my blog anymore. To add more, I bypassed my usual back-up before editing rule.

Panicking already, I frantically opened another ftp account and downloaded a copy of the wp-config.php file. I had to edit it, replace the db name, db password, and other stuff with my mysql username and password and wallah. almost as good as new.

Whew. I am never never… well going to edit without making sure I have a backup of my files. I should say I’m not going to tinker with something I don’t understand fully yet, but I learn better that way. hehehe… I should know. Oh well. lesson learned I guess. Never never bypass the backup rule again.
